The Department of Massachusetts VFW Veterans Disaster Assistance Committee (VDAC), was created after the passing of Hurricane Maria through the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. With the reports of the devastation, VFW District 7 Senior Vice Commander and Post 754 Commander Gamalier Rosa decided to take action.
Commander Rosa's resilience towards helping Puerto Rico led the Department of Massachusetts VFW State Commander Eric Segundo Sr. to establish VDAC, in order to legitimize our presence and open the doors for us to excel in our mission.
With the constant support of VFW State Commander Segundo, VetAir founder and Holyoke Veterans Service Officer Jesus Pereira and the donations from the Department of MA VFW, VetAir, Amherst VFW Post 754, Southwick VFW Post 872, Florence VFW Post 8006 and its Auxiliary from District 7; Commander Rosa embarked on his mission to help aid the VFW Posts and Veterans who reside in Puerto Rico.
Commander Rosa embarked on his mission Monday, October 16th 2017 and returned on Tuesday, January 2nd 2018, after serving Veterans and community members in a great time of need.
